In order to create schedules for your employees, you will need to create shift groups and shifts. These will contain rules for lunches, breaks, and rounding time.
Since the shifts are organized within groups, every shift you add will fall under a specific group.
Shift groups determine what kind of shift it will contain (such as flexible , fixed or floater), what rounding rules will be applied, and differential rates if applicable. Note that these variables will affect all the individual shifts within the group.
The Flex checkmark for any shift group can be turned on to disable Start/Stop times. This means that you will not require any shift start time or stop time when this is checked on. Your employees assigned to a flex shift will come throughout the day and work the amount of hours specified for the flex shift without having to worry about a scheduled Start/Stop time.
If your shift has a fixed Start/Stop time, you will NOT want Flex checked on for that shift's group.
Notice since our shift group has Flex checked on, when we click Add to create a new shift, we get no Start, Stop or Cutoff time for the shift, just the Gross and Total amount of hours with our Lunches/Breaks in consideration.
After clicking Add shift, you will be presented with the configuration window for shifts. Your lunches/breaks for each shift will be set up here as well. Differentials can be used to give different pay rates based on the hours they are working on the specfied day. You can have differentials affect all the shifts within the group by adding the differential on the group itself, or you can add differentials to each individual shift.
More information on adding lunches/breaks for the shifts can be found here.
